Seventy years is a long time to collect stories. By now, Mum or Dad probably has everything they need, which is exactly why the best 70th birthday gifts aren’t really about things at all. They’re about the life behind the number — a personal present that says you’ve been paying attention.
Our favourite 70th birthday idea starts on day one: the newspaper from the morning they were born, hand-bound in Ireland with their name on the cover, so the whole family can sit down and read the world they arrived into.
Anyone turning 70 in 2026 was born in 1956. Whatever the headlines on their particular day, the paper from that morning is a window onto the Ireland that greeted them: the news, the sport, the advertisements and the prices of the day.
Memorable Moments newspaper books from the day you were born offer a great opportunity for you to turn back the clock and reminise about yesteryear and how the world looked back then. Not only is it the full newspaper from the day you were born but each newspaper book also includes major news events from that decade. It offers thoughtful nod to the past and captures what was going on in the world the day they were born.
Hand-bound in Kenny’s Bindery of Galway with free personalised embossing on the cover Memorable Moments newspaper books are a 70th birthday present that are sure to match up to the occasion.
If you would prefer we also offer framed newspaper pages from any date back to 1900. A lovely way to mark such a big occasion each newspaper page is framed in an elegant aluminium silver frame with black mount. You can even add a personal message that is printed just above the newspapers masthead.
